Backroad Treasures

The road less traveled.

With Lancaster’s rich heritage of simplicity and minimal beauty. It makes sense that some of it’s best parts are found hidden away on backroads that wind and bend among the rolling farmland. Places that could easily be missed to the untrained eye or those caught in the fast-paced momentum.

We wanted to share a few of our Fall favorites, here at Peaceful Valley. You may want to add to your GPS on your next Lancaster visit.

Starting off with a little orchard, located in New Holland, PA on a small Amish farm.

In addition to their apples, they also have some crisp apple cider in a side cooler. Warm up the apple cider on your stove and sprinkle a little cinnamon for a delicious Fall drink.

There are no checkout lines or extra fluff. Only overflowing baskets with freshly picked apples, a tin box for money and the good ol’ honor system.

You can find the address below.

This next highlight is a little more well known, open year round with its seasonal delights, Stotlzfus Produce & Market.

This time of year the market has a great mix of fresh veggies, pumpkins, and mums along with yummy baked and canned goods.

You are sure to leave the stand with a handful of goodies, a smile, and a mental note to come back next year. Just make sure you have some cash or a check on hand since they do not take credit cards.

Tucked down a long Amish farm lane is a Quilt shop called Country Lane Quilts.

The shop is full from floor to ceiling with different patterns and colors of fabric. You will find large quilts put together and hand stitched with love and precision. A quilter’s paradise and for those who don’t have the thimble thumb, there are also aprons, dolls, keychains, and other handcrafted gems to enjoy.

Be sure to check out their beautiful pond area on your way out. And if you time it right you may even get to see and feed some feathery webbed-footed friends.

This next stop is delightfully quaint, Leid’s Orchard.

Owned and run by the sweetest family you’ll meet, their stand and orchard are right next to their house and farm. In addition to the apples, they also have different season fruit and veggies throughout the year. Along with some homemade pies and canned jams and preserves.

There is something about the stands simplicity that warms the heart and soul. Beleive us, you won’t regret the visit.

This last stop is a pumpkin lover’s paradise.

From small to large, dressed up to painted they have it all. This stand and pumpkin patch can be found on the corner of Church and Weavertown Road.

With an overflow of straw, corn stalks, and Indian corn you are sure to catch the Fall spirit and pick up a few decor ideas for your own home.

There is also a stand right across the street with some delicious edible goodies, for those in your life who would rather eat Fall than see it. Your mouth is sure to water at the pies, both traditional and whoopie, homemade bread and jams.

So grab your knit sweaters, boots, scarf, breath in the fresh, crisp air and come join us for the best of Lancaster this Fall.

What a great idea! My family and I spend 2-3 weeks in your area in the month of August. We have visited all the Peaceful Valley Shops. I loved looking at this site this morning. See you in Jan. on the way to Florida.
