A Behind-the-Scenes Look into Our Intercourse Store Changes

Spring is the perfect time for change. That’s why so many people focus on spring cleaning and redecoration in the first few weeks of this new season.

Here, at the Peaceful Valley Furniture Intercourse location, we didn’t want to miss out on the fun of springtime. So, we decided to have some change all of our own.

Don’t worry: We haven’t changed who we are at the core— We’re still the hardworking family business you’ve come to know and love.

We still work hard to provide the best handcrafted furniture from Amish county as possible.

Instead, we did a little cosmetic change to the inside of our Intercourse store, to make your visit and shopping experience better.

What Changed?

We got new carpet for all our floors!

Yes, you read that right! We wanted a fresh look for 2016 and what a better way to do that besides changing the floor beneath our feet?

After having our other carpet for the past decade, we saw the spring season as an ideal opportunity to add some fresh life to our store. After early morning arrivals and long hours, we are proud to say the latest carpet is in!

Our new carpet boasts warm neutral tones like maroon, beige and moss green, an serene backdrop to display our beautiful handcrafted furniture on.  The carpet complements the deep maroon accent wall in our display room; it’s even a similar palette to the plaid valence curtains hung above our gleaming windows.

We added a new check-out counter!

Our new counter fits well with our main construction purpose to maintain a well-run, organized check-out flow.

Through all these renovations, we hope to serve you with a better shopping experience!

We noticed, especially during busy days, that the lines at the registry often confused our customers since we had two lines and two registers, creating a bit of a muddle.

After brainstorming on a way to fix the line confusion, we decided a new counter would solve this dilemma. Now, those ready to check out can wait in one line that splits off at two registers, creating a relaxing, peaceful shopping experience for all.

We retiled and expanded our tile flooring!

Not only did we get new tile, we also expanded on our tile flooring. We extended the tiling to better accommodate the added counter space.

The swirling blend of tan, cream and gray tile ordains our floor, highlighted by the warm natural light that floods through the wide windows. While the tile looks fascinating against the beige walls, it doesn’t overpower the furniture or decorations.

We rearranged our displays to feel like home!

Of course, with the new counter space and fresh flooring, we needed to do some rearranging and decorating. We set up our displays to look like they would in a home, with complimenting hutches, tables and chairs. Our hope is to inspire you for what is possible in your home.

Our displays feature tables set with cloth napkins, center pieces, and table settings— ready for a delicious dinner! Bright flowers wreath our walls and perfect our table displays. These cozy displays are a reminder of what waits for you at home— a table set for the ones you love—and inspiration for decorating your own home!

Even our Strasburg location saw some change! Where we used to have only storage, we added a second floor. Now below the “loft” storage, we have our furniture displayed. This means more handcrafted pieces to see when you visit!

So far, our recent customers expressed their appreciation of the store changes, many commenting on how the store has changed and loving the fresh look.

We’re grateful for our customers patience during our construction week when the store looked a bit dusty and tight. Several customers remarked on the open layout that the change brought which helps their shopping experience.

Spring is here and our renovations are complete. We encourage you to come and take a peak!
