Our winter blues will soon be abated by the season’s last holiday: Valentines day, an celebration birthed out of sacrificial love.
Despite stores often using Valentines day as an excuse to sell more candy, cards and expensive gifts, Valentines day — for you, at least — doesn’t need to be overly commercialized.
Look at Valentines day as a chance to show those you love just how much they mean to you.
Today, we want to inspire you to create an unique card for someone special in your life. This card puts a contemporary twist on the time-worn skill of sewing, creating a modern card that is both fun and easy to make. We love this adorable, handcrafted card inspired by the blog, A Happily Crafted Life.
Supplies:
Download You Make My Heart Full DIY Card template.
- Paper cutter and scissors
- Red embroidery thread
- Embroidery needle
Step 1:
First, cut the printed paper in half to create two different card templates.
Step 2:
Next, thread the needle, making sure to knot the end.
Step 3:
Begin stitching the heart. We started stitching at the bottom of heart #2.
Tip: We poked holes in the line above the one we were stitching. This step helps keep your stitching pattern clear and straight.
Step 4:
Continue to stitch heart #2. You’re almost done!
Step 5:
After completing heart #2, begin stitching your heart #1, poking through the holes one hole ahead of time.
Step 6:
Fold your paper in half to finish your card.
Step 7:
Give your beautiful, handcrafted card to someone you love.
